Will you help find a cure for Parkinson's Disease?
On the occasion of World Parkinson Day (April 11), the Demoucelle Parkinson Charity is organizing 'Let's move for Parkinson' together with the non-profit organization Stop Parkinson and Golazo, a major event that calls for more exercise and at the same time funds for research on Parkinson's disease.
'Let's move for Parkinson' is inspired by the impressive walk that Parkinson's patient Ivo de Bisschop took last year with friends around the Belgian borders to raise awareness and raise funds for the disease.
Participants will be able to take on a personal challenge and walk a chosen distance (1km, 5kms, or 10kms) or run (5kms, 10kms, or 20kms) anywhere between May 13-30. An app will allow people to follow the trajectory of the walker or runner on a virtual map of Belgium. Participants will be 'guided and encouraged' by people with Parkinson's disease, researchers, healthcare providers, doctors and well-known Belgians. Friends and family will also be able to leave a personal message in advance! Well-known DJs Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike will compile a Spotify playlist especially for this event.
