Research position in Affective Neuroscience
Scientific Research position in Affective Neuroscience at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences, Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), Department of Neuroimaging, VUB, Brussels, Belgium, Department of Philosophy and Moral Sciences. In collaboration with the Psychophysiology Lab headed by Prof. James Gross of the University of Stanford, US.
Duration: 3 Year (MA-MSc/PhD/Postdoc)
Location: UGent/VUB is flexible
The candidate works on the experimental investigation of bottom-up experiential emotion regulation as a central working mechanism within experiential psychotherapy, complementary to top-down cognitive reappraisal as a central working mechanism in cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy. The candidate will assess behavioral and neurophysiological effects.
Profile: We are looking for a highly motivated applicant with a master's degree in psychology, biomedical, medical sciences, or affective- and cognitive neuroscience, or related areas. He or she has a strong affinity with experimental psychopathology research, statistical knowledge, and neuropsychophysiology measurements. English communication and writing skills are required. Methodological and statistical competence, experience with experimental research, psychophysiological methods, and/or neuroimaging techniques and autonomy are vital skills for this position. The candidate will be responsible for the collection and analysis of behavioral and neuroscientific data, publication and dissemination of the results.
